Jowai: NPP National Youth President Ratika Yumnam today said, “Why should only we learn Hindi why not the rest of India learn our language.”
She was replying to a query on the difficulty encountered by students of North East Region when they go to Plain India for studies as most institutes impart Hindi based medium. She also rues that North East youths go to plain India for their studies their studies do not suit their requirement for jobs in North East.
The NPP Youth President expressed concern over the skill development programme of Central Govt which does not fit the needs of the local youths in particular region as local skill development programmes are dictated by Delhi. The NPP will reach to the grass root level as to bring out youths policy as per own skill/potential, she added.
Yumnam was in Jowai this afternoon meeting the members of NPP Jaintia Hills Youth Wing in NPP Political Advisor Phidalia Toi’s residence after assuming charge as NPP Youth President.
The NPP National Youth President exhorted the youths of the party to work hand in hand with the elders of the party in the ensuing Assembly election in the state so that it will be the energy of the youth and the wisdom of the elders. She also said that she has come here to meet them as she is open to suggestion from the youths so that they can incorporate in the youth policy of the party.
“We will be bringing out a mission document containing the plans of action for the party to move ahead,” Yumnam asserted.
The State Election Committee will decide on how many seats will be allotted to the aspiring youth candidates of the party, the NPP Youth President reply to a query and quickly added that even if there is no youth candidate the party will includes the agendas pertaining to the youths.
She also boasted that the NPP will come up with education policy in Meghalaya if we come to power.
Yumnam appealed to the people of North East India to be united when they are in plain India so that they can unitedly fight against atrocities and discrimination meted to them by plain Indian.
Other present in the meeting included NPP State Youth Wing President Nickey Nongkhlaw, NPP Youth Wing general secretary Pynshngain Syiem, NPP East & West Jaintia Hills District President Octomewot Lamin, and NPP Jaintia Hills Youth President JG Kyndiah and others.
